Ok. So how about 2020?
Not what we expected for this year, eh?
And I can appreciate the consensus that is excited for the New Year as though as soon as January 1 is here, all of this is going to just kind of go away…
Now I am not trying to be a Debbie Downer, but it’s not going to just go away because it’s January 1. And fortunately or unfortunately, much of 2020 is still going to trail along with us into the new year.
“Great JG. Thanks for that uplifting message.”
But here’s why I say that, this message I am about to share with you is taking into consideration the reality of it all. And I do think we do ourselves a disservice in the dreaming process when we by-pass this part. A reality check.
Reality says, this year has kicked us off our rocker.
Reality says we don’t know when we will ever live “normal” again.
Reality says there is still a ripple effect of fear, worry, doubt, job loss, and all the things.
But. But. And I say this empathically, BUT GOD.
But you, yes you, you dreamer…
BUT THOSE DREAMS THAT GOD’S PUT ON THE INSIDE OF YOU. What about those?!
What about those dreams you have to live and love with more passionately?
What about those dreams of choice, freedom, and a truer way to live?
What about those dreams of creating change and lasting impact?
What about those dreams of starting that business, writing that book, traveling the country?
What about those dreams of a career you can be proud of, relationships that are more connected, a community that’s more engaged, and a world that does good?
What about those dreams?
Now you know I am a HUGE advocate for dreaming. That’s obvious. I’ve got a company called The Dream Factory, a book called DREAM – I Dare You, a 6-week course called DREAM: Now. All the things.
But I’d be lying if I didn’t share a very key ingredient to this whole equation… which is exactly what I am here to share today. It’s not only one of the key ingredients to living the life of your dreams but it’s also our YEAR LONG CAMPAIGN for 2021. It’s our mantra, our true north, our lifeblood and also what we believe to be 100% necessary for all you Dreamers out there.
It’s together.
It’s about dreaming together.
It’s about taking the hits that 2020 brought, dusting yourself off, going within yourself to find the strength, the very voice of God that is speaking to you and leading you and hand in hand, getting our lives back by simply dreaming TOGETHER.
We have to do this together.
In a world that was completely busy and hyper distracted before COVID to a world that is now over-connected and lacking real connection, we are launching a year long campaign and initiative that ensures all of us, including you, are not only dreaming, yes, but more importantly dreaming together.
If you look at the synonym of the word together, you find words like: in unison, united, collectively, in one breath, with-one-voice, all-together, with one accord, as one.
And even if you look at the early church in the book of Acts, when the belief in God spread like wild fire yall, the common ingredient was TOGETHERNESS.
It says: 42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
And in In 1 Corinthians, The Passion Translation, the Bible is very clear about our giftings and working together as one. It says, 17 Think of it this way. If the whole body were just an eyeball, how could it hear sounds? And if the whole body were just an ear, how could it smell different fragrances? 18 But God has carefully designed each member and placed it in the body to function as he desires.[w] 19 A diversity is required, for if the body consisted of one single part, there wouldn’t be a body at all! 20 So now we see that there are many differing parts and functions, but one body…. Instead, God has mingled the body parts together… 25 He has done this intentionally so that every member would look after the others with mutual concern, and so that there will be no division in the body. 26 In that way, whatever happens to one member happens to all. If one suffers, everyone suffers. If one is honored, everyone rejoices.
We are all part of this body, and it is together we can fully manifest for the common good.
I write in my book, I am never an advocate for “dream big” just for the sake of having big dreams. That can easily be built-in ego. However, I am a huge advocate for real dreams. And the irony, as mentioned, is that the more real your dreams are, the bigger they become. It’s an automatic by-product. Once those dreams become real, they become big—real big. I mean instantaneously bigger than you can suddenly do in your own mind, within your own power or strength. Your dreams then start to feel a bit impossible. Here’s why you want your dreams real, and in turn, big:
The first reason is to bring humanity together. Dreaming is not just for the benefit of you or solely for you to connect with you (though those are perks); it’s also to connect you to others. When you dream real dreams that are bigger than you, it automatically means you will need someone else to help you, and when we work side by side one another, for a cause and a reason that’s bigger than ourselves, we come together as people.
Now, I know we’ve each got a laundry list of disappointments and all the “times we’ve tried working together, and it didn’t work.” I’ve got my list too. But it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t work. Just because the mission failed once or twice or even 100 times doesn’t mean it’s impossible; it just means you found a few ways not to do it, which means you, of all people, should have a better understanding and insight of how to do it. Sure, you can protect yourself, live in a silo, and continue to dream dreams that only you can control, or you can take a bit of a risk and begin to create more real dreams, which become bigger dreams that require the help of more people while learning how to assess their heart for your dream. If you can begin to find the people who have the same heart, passion, and purpose for the things that you do, then it will be a better fit for everyone. But, in order to do that, in order to find those people, you’re going to have to dream more real, dream bigger, and then put those dreams out there to find the people who are waiting for your dream to chase.
A more real (bigger) dream allows us all the chance to come together.
And that’s what we’re asking you to do.
If you want this year, 2021 to be dedicated to the manifestation of your real, pure, wild dreams, then you’re going to need to join us in this campaign and learn to dream together.
Your dreams are bigger than you. They will blow your mind. You will need help. It’s about learning to give and receive.
Will you join me? Will you come with me on this journey to dream together?
If so, then I am going to ask that you join me in our NEW closed Facebook Group called Dream: Together, specifically to to bring dreamer’s (just like you) together to connect and collaborate, learn and grow, and to encourage and challenge one another!
Daily, we will be in conversation about the things that matter most – your dreams! We will talk about:
- Mental and emotional wellbeing,
- Spiritual growth and connection,
- Business and career strategy,
- Family and relational best practices,
- And of course, all the tools and resources and things to support you in manifesting your dreams.
Not only is 2021 a year that should be dedicated to championing and pursuing your dreams, but it’s also a year to dream together because lets face it, we are better together.
