God’s word says, “Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all other things will be added to you” Matthew 6:33. This isn’t about balance, this is about alignment.
Can I be honest with you…?!
I mean, reeeeaaaallll honest?
At the beginning of the year, I had enough. I had been pushing and striving and producing more content in the year prior then most people produce in a lifetime. So, I decided to get off social media because let’s face it, IT’S LOUD – and because it’s loud, I got off focus, off target, and out of alignment.
Maybe you can relate.
I believe that if we’re not all careful, social media, the news, heck, our own workplace can become a place where there are so many voices, all talking at the same time, saying so much and yet, nothing all. Opinions, bias, thoughts, all the things! Makes me wanna go cra cra.
Can I get an “AMEN?!”
Maybe I’m the crazy one, or the only one who gets caught up in it, but there I was, completely off focus, off target, and drained by the chaos of it all. So I drop kicked the social media habit.
Truth be told, it wasn’t hard to do, and in fact, I felt completely liberated the moment I said, “I’M DONE!!!!”
So, as a team, we did the best we knew how to do to DROP KICK THE HABIT, while still running a digital business. Geesh. But we were desperate to get back on target… We “did the things” to automate the process, checking the boxes, streamlining everything we could because let’s face it, though social media can be a distraction, it’s also a platform we use being a digital evangelism company. We decided to let the automation do its thing, while I got real quiet. REALLY QUIET.
It’s funny how much you hear when things get quiet…
God showed me how my passion for him was pleasing to him, yet my order was wrong. ORDER he said… “What’s your order?!”
I realized my order was wrong, which was causing misalignment.
What about you?
Have YOU lost alignment?
Has the world gotten louder in your ear than it should be?
Have you lost focus?
Gotten off track a bit?
Or heck, don’t even know what God’s voice sounds like anymore?
Then I want to encourage you in this: YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
You are also not crazy. You are human, in need of a target – and your target is Jesus!
He is your beginning and your end. He is your miracle. He is your dream. He is your reason, your place of purpose, security, stability, and sanity.
And if you, LIKE ME, have gotten a bit off target, I want to encourage you in this today, fix your eyes on him and let him begin to realign you so that you can share in the abundance of heaven.
Your Order Matters
For most, the reason their order is wrong is because they’re seeking balance.
Balance, by definition, means: keep or put (something) in a steady position so that it does not fall.
Our world tries to sell us on “balance.”
Our Pinterest boards are full of quotes that say “The key to a happy life is a balanced life.” Or, “In every aspect of life, balance is key.”
Said Jesus never.
This never was and never will be his message. And ultimately, it explains why though we seek balance with everything in us, we are more exhausted then when we first began. Why? Because balance causes us to play a role we were never supposed to play. You are not supposed to hold “all the things” so they don’t fall, Jesus is. You are not supposed to be great at everything, that is unattainable. You are not supposed to ensure everyone is happy, that is just not your job. And it’s in this place of seeking balance, you misalign your order.
This isn’t a balance thing. It’s an alignment thing.
God’s word says, “Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all other things will be added to you” Matthew 6:33. Do you know what this is?!?!? It’s alignment my friend.
Alignment.
Alignment, by definition, means a position of agreement or alliance.
That causes one to think, WHO and WHAT am I in agreement with? WHO and WHAT am I giving my allegiance to?
I don’t know about you but those moments when you HEAR God’s voice in NEW ways and you just kinda wake you up to what he’s been saying all along, and it gets ya moving again with deeper levels of passion and understanding to make moves for his kingdom. When you focus on Him first, all other things second, your order comes back in alignment. Lift your arms in surrender to him, let the need to hold the room (balance) fall to the wayside, and let his heavenly realm create the greatest shift you can even imagine.
Now, I know that is easier said then done.
#simplestupidhard
But you admit that you can relate. And maybe, you’re where I was, totally out of alignment with no clue how to get back on track. “JG, I HEAR YOU BUT WHERE DO I START?!”
Here’s where you begin…
Repent.
Yes, repent means to say “I’m sorry.” And that’s warranted. If you’ve gotten off target, lost alignment, simply recognize it and say you’re sorry. Then, you must realize that the word “repent” actually means to rearrange the way you think. Let your repentance not just be words to the Lord, then it start the process of realigning your mind to think like God’s mind, your thoughts like his thoughts. The word says, ““For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are my ways your ways,” declares the Lord.” Begin to realign with the mindset of heaven.
Get quiet.
Whatever distractions have found themselves at the forefront of your attention, DROP KICK ‘EM! Maybe that’s a hard, fast forever! I don’t care what it is, get the distraction out of the way. Or maybe it’s just a “not now” while you recalibrate. God’s asked me to do both. He asked me to DROP KICK alcohol forever so I am 3 years sober. He’s asked me to give up social media for a time so after 3 months, I’m back. God’s word doesn’t literally tell us to DROP KICK these habits, but it might as well. It says, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith” Hebrews 12:1-2. THROW IT OFF. Don’t overthink it. Don’t negotiate with it. Just DROP KICK IT.
Obey.
In the quiet place, God will speak. Frankly, he’s always speaking. That’s not the issue… the issue is whether or not we have ears to hear, eyes to see. So when he speaks, because he will, obey. Obedience always brings blessing. Now, it won’t always be easy and it won’t always make sense but I would like to propose to you that it will always be simple, it will always bring you peace, and it will always keep you in the abundance of heaven, to obey him and follow him in his paths of righteousness. Ask me how I know.
Friend, dreamer, fellow kingdom builder… I see you. I feel you. I am with you.
Realign by “seeking first his kingdom and his righteousness.”
Sooooooooo, I guess all that to say, “I’M BACK. And not only do I want to share my process with you in weekly blogs, daily social posts, or any digital content I put out there to equip the body of Christ, I pray it causes each one of us to ARISE & ALIGN in new, fresh ways with the Lord.
You can rest assured that I’m not here to add to the noise, I’m simply here to be a place that causes YOU to hear HIM more. Not me…
Don’t hear me. HEAR HIM.
Don’t build your business for you. Build it for HIM.
Don’t parent to meet everyone else’s standards. Parent for HIS.
Anything but his voice, his plan, his way is just bad business practice.
Let’s lived aligned.
Let’s get to work!
Let’s build his Kingdom, one day at a time, one brick at a time, one dream at a time.
And if you do want to really LEAN IN and DROP KICK those habits while learning how to GET QUIET with the Lord, I want to gift you my FREE FRAMEWORK. Yep!
