Times have changed. And, fast.

We’ve lost revenue… lost businesses… lost “normal” habits and routines… and yes, even some have lost their minds.

For others, it’s simply give us a time to pause… reflect… rethink… reboot… re-strategize… and yes, even relax a little.

Regardless, change is upon us and fortunately and unfortunately, we’re not slowing down the “change bus” anytime soon.

This much change, coupled with so much uncertainty, definitely makes it hard to plan… measure… project… even identify what’s next in life or in business and makes it even harder to know how to set or hit goals and deadlines for 2020.

SOOOOOOO, that begs the question:

What does one do when one doesn’t know what to do?!

We do what we can ONLY do and that is CREATE.

Because here’s the beauty of creation… NO ONE and NOTHING can take that away from you.

Creation is not built upon external circumstances and situations, nor is it dependent upon opinion or reality, it’s built from within.

Create by definition means: bring into existence, to cause something to happen as a result of one’s actions.

We are ALL Creators but there’s 2 things that keep us from really stepping into our own identities as such:

  1. We don’t view ourselves as creators. We actually don’t see ourselves as creators. We have jobs, we are employees, mothers, friends, sisters and brothers, business owners, but creators?! Never imagined such a thing. “How others see you is not nearly as important as how you see you”
  1. We are wrestling with its arch enemy: Comparison. Too often we are too busy comparing what IS for what WAS, what IS for what “SHOULD BE”, what IS for what someone HAS, what IS for what we DON’T WANT and poof, just like that, the arch enemy wins.

So today we are going to talk about “2 Lanes”:

  1. How you can peel back the layers of this arch enemy, comparison, so you can ultimately conquer it, AND
  2. What it means to have an identity as a creator and how you can really embody this and free yourself in the process

Lets first look at this arch enemy, Comparison.

You see, every Super Hero (which you are) has an arch enemy. This is their greatest nemesis and in fact, when you learn about arch enemies, it says that “neither life will be happy while the other is alive”.

This proves while you’re struggling to find your joy… to find your happiness… it’s because your arch enemy of comparison is robbing your ability to create – your soul’s very purpose for being on the planet.

Comparison has this underlying, oftentimes unconscious way of showcasing itself as unmet expectations. We begin to look at life as how it used to be, for what it “should be”, relating it to what it “could be”, looking at someone else’s IS and using it as a grading stick for our own life and what it ISN’T and just like that, we’re lost in translation.

Here’s what you have to understand about this arch enemy, Comparison (we’ll call this “The Power 11 for our Arch Enemy”) so you can recognize when its upon you:

  1. Comparison starts in the mind but it sucks the life out of the
  2. Comparison is an external seeking problem that turns into an internally imbalanced issue.
  3. Comparison wreaks havoc on potential so if you’re stuck, blocked, triggered, annoyed, resentful, shame herein lies your
  4. Comparison stops us from living our own life because we are precariously living through someone else’s which is why we feel the effects of a mid life
  5. Comparison is not friendly competition, it’s aim is to wipe someone else out and that “someone” is normally YOU. (NOTE: creation is not about you competing with someone else, its you competing with you)
  6. Comparison shuts us down.
  7. Comparison robs joy and creates feelings such as inefficiency, fear, worry and
  8. Comparison squeezes one’s ability to take risks because its acting from deficiency. It’s safety, security, stability. It’s a stagnant mindset.
  9. Comparison fuels striving. It leaves one feeling like they’re never enough, it’s never enough, I can’t keep up, I can’t measure up, I’ll never be like her/him, I can’t have what he/she has, I’m not what I once was and those thoughts ultimately keep us striving, spinning, reaching, obtaining, accomplishing for all the wrong
  10. Comparison leaves a trail of unfulfillment and resentment that spills over onto everyone in its
  11. Comparison only can see what it can see and chalks it up as “This is it. Period. FOREVER”.

Now you can see how this “thief in the night”, this arch enemy, likened to a leech can just suck the living daylights out of you. And that’s exactly what it does… COMPARISON SUCKS THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS OUT OF YOU!!

But, when we actually turn those daylights back on, we recognize that the greatest gift that we’ve been given as a human being is the ability to create!

And that creation will actually trump comparison, IF you choose it. And it does come down to a choice.

Creation changes everything.

That means, that at any point in time, if something isn’t serving you or you don’t like how things are playing out or when life feels like it’s happening to you, you’ve lost your job, lost revenue, see a problem, or have any sort of misalignment in this life, ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS CREATE.

Take out the paintbrush of life, Take out the white board,

Whatever your tool of choice is and “let it rain”!

As I said before, the beauty of creation is that NO ONE and NOTHING can take that away from you. Mark my word on this, and if you find this to be untrue in any way, shape or form, especially as you try this on for size in the month to come, you come find me and you lay it on me.

Bottom line, creation is not built upon external circumstances and situations, nor is it dependent upon opinion or reality, it’s built from within.

God saw NOTHING when he started creating, “A formless world” the Bible says but that didn’t stop him from having at it!!

Let me say that again, creation is not dependent upon reality. Sure, reality is what it is but it doesn’t have to stay that way! Because again, by definition, create means: bring into existence, to cause something to happen as a result of one’s actions.

What this tells me is that the very act of creating is bringing something into existence that implies it didn’t exist before AND it’s a happening caused by – not fate, chance, the government, your past, or any other silly excuse – YOU. It’s the results of one’s action, YOU being that one!!

Sure, someone else also has the power to create something and whether you like or hate that something has no bearing on your ability to create something alongside of it or instead of it. GOOD TO KNOW IN TIMES LIKES THESE!

I know you don’t like what the Corona Virus is doing. I know you don’t like losing your job.

I know you don’t like being quarantined. I know you don’t like lost revenue.

I KNOW.

Believe me, I know.

AND. AND. You still hold the paintbrush to your life my friend! You still have the power to create and no one and nothing, not even Corona Virus, can take that away from you!!!

So ultimately, here’s the POWER 11 for our Super Hero, Creation: (Note: as we do this, you’re creating a new lane next to the arch enemy and ultimately, you have to pick your lane)

  1. Creation is a matter of the heart… gut… intuition… God’s voice… a knowing and will completely confuse the
  2. Creation is not about hearing everyone else’s voice. It’s about hearing your own. It’s an INTERNAL
  3. Creation opens us up to our potential, which is unlimited, uninhibited and never ending in essence and
  4. Creation is where life begins because it’s about your TRUE, nobody else’s.
  5. Creation only competes with itself and what’s it’s really capable of. (Michael Jordan)
  6. Creation OPENS you up and allows you to STAY OPEN! Creation is about creating space to act on what you saw… hence why it’s a verb… it’s an action!
  7. Creation creates joy because joy is in process, it’s in the journey. Creation is an ever evolving book with lots and lots of chapters therefore bringing with it peace, passion,
  8. Creation allows one to take any necessary risk because it’s functioning from growth needs – love and belonging, fulfillment and actualization! It’s a growth mindset
  9. Creation is CAN’T NOT!!! It’s about Quitting the addiction of tuning in, loggin on, going live and knowing how to tune out and stop
  10. Creation leaves a trail of inspiration that sets other people free to do the same…
  11. Creation is about being a REALIST and a VISIONARY at the same time. A REALIST is someone who looks at reality for what it is and plans accordingly while a VISIONARY is someone who thinks and plans with imagination and wisdom

*To be a Creative Realist also means looking at what today IS without judgment, bias or preconceived notion. Let IT be what IT is.

*To be a Creative Visionary means having a decent level of faith because it means that you are going to have to dig deep and see something with your internal eyes that your external eyes don’t always see. Either because it’s literally never been created before (true innovation) or because you personally have just never seen the results in your own life.
